Description: A lecture-discussion on selected poems by these remarkable soldier-poets, considered within the context of the rise of literary Modernism and with connections to other modernists, including Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, and D. H. Lawrence. Special attention will be given to Mrs. Dalloway.

About Dean (ret) Schenker: Mark Schenker retired from Yale College in 2023 after more than 30 years of service as an academic dean and part-time lecturer in the English Department. He holds an MA in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a PhD in English and Comparative Literatures from Columbia University. He has taught at Trinity College, NYU, Columbia University, and Yale. For over 40 years, outside of his position at Yale, he has led book discussions and presented lectures on a wide range of cultural and historical topics in public libraries, community centers, museums, retirement communities, and private homes.
