Refresh
March’s sun and temperatures have brought forward the earliest signs of spring: snowdrops, crocus, little promises of daffodils, the yellow and red of trees in early spring, the return of the red-winged blackbirds, the sun on the water a little sooner and a little later, a flying insect here and there, neighbors out and about, the sweeping off of our porches, and all the other ways we prepare to return to one another beyond our own winter coziness and trials.
Thank you for joining us throughout the winter as we prepare together for Bristol BookFest 2026 featuring Virginia Woolf’s novel “Mrs. Dalloway.” It’s been a season for serious thought with some playfulness and a good bit of community conversation. We look forward to greeting you April 10-11 for our annual weekend of events.
Crash Course
For review, entertainment and new ideas, check out the Roger Williams University’s Bristol BookFest-specific library guide to “Mrs. Dalloway.”
In addition to snippets like interesting facts about “Mrs. Dalloway,” like that Woolf wrote the novel in a garden shed, you’ll also find resources of all sorts, including this clip of the Royal Opera House Ballet and their performance of Wayne McGregor’s ballet “Woolf Works” set to Max Richter’s score for the piece. “Each act of the ballet draws on one of Virginia Woolf’s best-loved novels, “Mrs. Dalloway,” “Orlando” and “The Waves,” as well as extracts of her autobiographical writings, to capture her unique way of representing the world.” Originally performed in 2015, the acclaimed, award-winning three-act ballet was presented again this year in January and February.
